Language 2 Literacy is proud to announce a new Summer Boost Program for students that have not quite mastered age appropriate reading skills to be confident, successful readers.
The Ready 2 Read program provides an intensive systematic approach to assist students that would benefit from a direct multi-sensory approach to “boost” their reading abilities. This program is designed for children entering Preschool to 4th grade. According to Sally Shaywitz, a leader in reading research: “… if a reading problem is caught early and the child receives effective intervention, he can catch up; in contrast, a child who is delayed in receiving such instruction has great difficulty in closing the gap.”
Each class is designed to achieve mastery through repetition, explicit instruction and an exciting multi-sensory approach to reading. The skills that will be covered during each class include but are not limited to: phonemic awareness, phonics, letter recognition, decoding, reading fluency, comprehension skills and written expression. In addition, we incorporate age appropriate literature and lots of reading practice. These skills are developed in a fun and confidence building learning environment.
Additionally, students and their families are provided with an individual assessment designed to evaluate the student’s entrance and exit competencies.
Classes are comprised according to the grade which the child will enter in the Fall and competency on the assessment. Programs are as follows:
Preschool/Kindergarten: Tues & Thurs 1 hour 6 weeks $595
Elementary Grades 1-4: Mon, Wed, Fri 1 hour 6 weeks $795
Classes are offered in 2 sessions: June 22- July 31
July 13- Aug 21
We offer morning and afternoon classes.
